Freeform and flowing, Spring is coming and flowers were the thought of the week with A Sort of Flower – Original painting. What kind of flower did I want to paint? A whimsical flower, with form made up of movement more than representational shape. I wanted cheery floral colors for the entire piece, so I chose Spring colors for this flower art. I upped the game with glitzy opalescent white-to-pink paint for the flower shape outlines. When you see this in person, you’ll be overjoyed by the shimmer effect. The other rule of the composition was No Straight Lines. The abstract background is a tangle of curved lines, colored from light purple, to yellow, green, and then a contrasting deep bordeaux. It’s like I put straight ironed colored ribbons in the wash and then plopped the basket full out on the table and found a “wonderful mess.”  I embellished the 2″ deep gallery edges with triangle shapes in the greens and yellows of the front against a purple background. It’s like Springtime in a whimsical flower art sized 10″ square – a great size to hang almost everywhere you need some positive energy.
