This whimsical abstract mountain landscape painting with windmills is a labor of love in 8×10 inch format. The imaginary scene was inspired by the landscape around Thomas, West Virginia, where wind turbines loom over the mountain tops amidst the Monongahela Forest. On my last visit, the wind was plentiful. Seeing fluffy white clouds being tattered and torn against the impossibly blue sky was nothing short of inspiring. That wind helps create clean energy. See a video of the clouds that day and get the story behind the painting in my blog entry “Windy Day in Tucker County.” I mention pros and cons of clean energy in West Virginia and discuss materials used in creating this artwork.
This is a highly stylized imaginary view of an Appalachian Mountain scene in burgundy to yellow, with the white windmills offsetting the curly lines of wind and clouds against a blue sky. A huge sun completes the scene with loose, thick brush strokes in orange to yellow. The painting was composed on heavy cotton bond paper, treated with gesso for longevity. I designed the art area to 8×10 inches for easy framing. Painting is signed and titled.
This listing is for ONE signed original “Windy Day in Tucker County” acrylic painting on heavy cotton bond paper.
